While details are still scant at the moment, CNET Asia learned from the Taiwanese notebook manufacturer that there are plans to introduce a 17-inch version of its gaming laptop. No other information was given, except that it will come with a full-HD screen and GTX graphics, though we'd expect the new 17-inch model to sport similar or better specifications than the 15.6-inch P2542.
During a meeting with journalists from Europe and Asia at Gigabyte's headquarters in Taiwan, the company's Senior Specialist in the Channel Marketing Section, Hanif Wang, also talked about an upcoming tablet that it plans to debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next January, though no details was shared.
With less than a week to go before the Windows 8 launch, Gigabyte has announced its latest machines with the new Microsoft OS. This includes the U2142 convertible Ultrabook with dual (SSD + HDD) onboard storage, the S1082 tablet and the GB-AE21T All-In-One PC. As with some of the other notebook vendors, the company will also be adding touchscreens to selected models in its current lineup to complement the touch interface of the new OS.
