Pet Name: Zeus
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Age: Young
Male or Female: M
Size: L

Update 2-8-12. My name is Zeus. I am a sweet, loving, handsome boy in search of my forever home. I like to go for long walks and long to snuggle. I am learning all sorts of new things like riding in the car as that means we get to go places, and not to counter surf or help myself to trash, because now I have two meals served to me everyday! I love the little people in the house (kids). I do just fine with the cat as I ignore him and have met other cats too who as well don?t really interest me. I like to have a buddy to play with who will romp and stomp and carry on but allows me to be the more dominant in play.Zeus does well with kids (LOVES kids), cats, and other dogs ? although he can be very dominant in his play and a more submissive easy going canine companion is strongly recommended. He has some separation anxiety issues, but we are working through those and he is coming along very nicely. Currently he is on mediation for the stress and anxiety that come with the disorder and they are working. It is also strongly recommended that Zeus be crated when you are not home due to the separation anxiety as this keeps him calm and makes him feel safe. All Zeus wants in life is for someone to love him and to tell him that he is a good boy. And he is. He genuinely is. He obeys commands, and wants to please. He walks beautifully on a leash, does sit, down, wait, leave it, come, and stay commands well. He is learning what it means to live inside and not to counter surf or help himself to trash that is in the can. He is housebroken as he has never had an accident in the house. He loves to play with you and other dogs, games like fetch and tug too.Would you consider Zeus as a companion for your household today? Please also note, that Zeus currently is being fostered by a dog trainer, and training tips as well as instruction are offered freely to his new owner for any transition or issue that would arise.Posted 11/4/11. Zeus and his brother, Leo, were surrendered to FFN by their owners when they had to move and were unable to find an apartment where they could have dogs. Zeus is a one year old APBT mix. He is handsome weighing in at 55 pounds. Zeus loves other dogs, kids but has never been exposed to cats so that is an unknown. He walks well on a leash and is fine in the crate when you are home. Zeus will need a family that is home more often than not and another dog to be his companion. He will need to have exercise and training so that he can bond well with his new family. Zeus is neutered, has all current vaccinations, microchipped and is on heartworm and flea preventatives. Can you offer Zeus that home full of love and happiness he so much wants? If so please apply to take this handsome and happy dog home!

Pet Name: Sparkey ? Courtesy Posting
Breed: Labrador Retriever
Age: Adult
Male or Female: M
Size: M

Posted 10-7-11. SPARKEY is looking for a good home. He is a wonderful rescue Lab/Wired Haired Terrier mix, 55 lbs., 6 1/2 years. He is a very healthy boy and loves to play ball. Sparkey was obedience trained in the prison program. Because he really loves his humans, he would do well as an only dog, or in a home with a female dog. He is good with kids, good on the leash and is an excellent watch dog. Sparkey has special needs because he is afraid of thunder and does not like to ride in the car. Neutered and up to date on shots and heartworm preventative. No male dogs or cats. Pet Name: Maggie
Breed: Coonhound
Age: Young
Male or Female: F
Size: M

Update 12-28-11. Maggie has returned to foster care after graduating from the HOPE program where she enjoyed the TLC of dedicated full time handlers and professional trainers to help her recover from her fearfulness. And what a success! Though still a bit timid by nature, she more quickly warms up to new people and her obedience skills are excellent. What a long way this lovely girl has come! All she needs now is a home of her own, a nice big fenced yard to run in with another dog or two as friends, and a loving family of her own. Update 9-11-11. Maggie is now enrolled in the HOPE (Hounds of Prison Education) program. What is a wonderful opportunity for this beautiful girl to gain confidence! Please go to www.HopeDogs.org to and check back often to watch her progress.Posted 2-15-11. Maggie is an elegant, fine-boned, petite hound mix with a sleek, smooth coat. She is unfortunately very shy, but she has the most gentle nature. In the few short days since arrival at her foster home, she has begun to come out of her shell. At times she even seems to burst with happiness at feeling safe and having food in her belly and will bounce as if she has springs in her legs and play-bow to her roommate dogs inviting them to play.Maggie lives with cats and other dogs in her foster home and gets along with both. She is crate trained and (having just arrived) is beginning to learn housetraining. She is about a year old and isnt expected to get much larger than her current 35 pounds. She is tall and leggy for her weight and a natural athlete.PLEASE NOTE: Maggie has experienced abuse and starvation in her short life and has a long way to go in her rehabilitation. She will require a dedicated person prepared to provide patience, time and love to help her blossom. Many normal household and outdoor sounds and sights will frighten Maggie until she gets used to them. Being petted and walking on leash are even new experiences for her, but she is learning quickly. Because Maggie is a currently considered a serious flight risk due to her shyness, only homes without small children will be considered. Please contact FFN for additional information about lovely Maggie.

Pet Name: Tillie PENDING
Breed: Terrier
Age: Baby
Male or Female: F
Size: S

Posted 2-27-2012. Trixie was pulled from a shelter one week before she gave birth. Her pups, Teddy, Trudy, and Tillie, were born on December 10, 2011, three precious little Christmas gifts. These puppies have been raised with much love and care in a Furry Friends foster home and soon will be looking for families to adopt them. Tilly is a sweetheart. She has fuzzy fur that is not too long and cute floppy ears. Since the mama dog is small, about 12 pounds, we believe the pups will be on the small side as well as they get older. The pups are presently 11 weeks old and weigh five pounds. Tilly likes to be cuddled after settling down from an active period of play, and she happily gives kisses to the lucky person who is holding her. She will be ready for adoption in the middle of March and is looking for a home where someone would be present to spend time with her, train her, and give her lots of affection and care. Young pups need the companionship of their humans and require lots of training, so we are hoping to find a home for Tilly where her family will have plenty of patience and time.Adoption application, home visit and adoption fee required. Jennie is truly a precious girl who has so much love to give.Jennie is spayed, up to date on preventatives and all vaccines, and microchipped. Pet Name: Cailynn
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Age: Young
Male or Female: F
Size: M

Posted 8/10/2011. Hi! I?m Cailynn and I am a little shy. I was surrendered to Furry Friends Network by my former owners and was undernourished, flea infested, and full of scabs from scratching. I know I am a Pit Bull. My mom was small and I was the runt of the litter. I was born the end of September, 2010. I only weighed 29 pounds when I went to the vet just before coming into my foster home. It?s been almost 2 weeks, and I have gained 2 pounds, my scabs are healed, and my fur is growing back. My foster parents are helping me build up my confidence. I love the other dogs in my foster home, Penny Lane (who is also available for adoption), and the resident 5 year old Pit Bull girl. I won?t be ready for adoption until I get spayed, but you should put in an application to adopt me now ?cause I?m looking forward to getting my own forever home.Adoption application, home visit and adoption fee required. Pet Name: Leonardo
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Age: Adult
Male or Female: M
Size: M

Posted 1-5-12. Leonardo was found as a stray in York County. He was nearly hairless and very skinny. He was diagnosed with mange, ear infections, a respiratory infection and low thyroid. With lots of TLC, good food and medicine, Leo has thrived. His only remaining medical issue is that he has to take thyroid medicine (probably for the rest of his life). He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is believed to be 6-7 years old and a Shar-pei/Pit mix. He has a beautiful brownish red coat and white on his belly and paws. Strangers always tell him what a handsome boy he is.He is good with most other dogs, but he did have problems with the alpha dog in his foster home. Leo shows no signs of wanting to be the alpha. He loves the foster puppy and will play with him for hours. His favorite game is fetch. He doesnt drop the ball, but you can stick your hand in his mouth and take out the ball or toy he is playing with. He loves being close to his people, but will not get on the sofa or bed. He has a doggie bed and that is where he sleeps. If you are laying on the sofa, he will walk up and lay his head on you. He has been in close contact with the cat with no problems. But when the other dogs see the cat and bark at him, so does Leo.We dont know if Leo was dumped or ran away and his owners couldnt find him, but he is one of the nicest dogs you will ever meet. He loves people and they are attracted to him. He has a unique look about him. Foster mom is going to be extremely sad to see this boy go, but he needs his own home, with his own family who will love him forever and never let him get away.Adoption application, home visit and adoption fee required.
