PARK CITY, UT (May 23) - The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association is expanding its consumer merchandising presence, announcing plans for a new eCommerce platform to launch this fall. The USSA is partnering with industry leader TeamFanShop to develop an online retail shop for sales of licensed product for the Olympic sports organization?s U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and new U.S. Freeskiing brands.
The consumer merchandising outreach will showcase products of the more than 30 brand licensees to an audience of more than 16 million American skiers and snowboarders, plus millions more fans. The experience will create a virtual marketplace to bring the USSA?s consumer partners and suppliers together with fans. The custom designed online shopping site will launch this fall, just prior to the 2011-12 competitive season.
?eCommerce is a vital part of our overall consumer merchandising plan to bring our brands closer to our millions of fans across America and the world,? said the USSA?s Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Andrew Judelson. ?This eCommerce platform is a key component in the build out of the USSA Digital Network. We selected TeamFanShop as a partner based on its extensive background with both professional and Olympic sports.?
TeamFanShop is an eCommerce industry leader, working with teams in the National Football League, National Basketball Association and various Olympic sports. Founded in 1995, the company also works with national television networks and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
?eCommerce plays a vital role in consumer merchandising and brand marketing as we?ve seen in the success TeamFanShop has had with our partners at the United States Olympic Committee and USA Swimming,? said Brian Swallow, TeamFanShop?s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. ?The USSA and its licensees have a great opportunity to build scale in this business and to grow fans with iconic brands like the U.S. Ski Team, as well as U.S. Snowboarding and the new U.S. Freeskiing.?
The online shop will feature key brands including Spyder, The North Face, Neve, High Sierra, SmartWool and more. It will also showcase a popular line of logoed apparel from Huge Sportswear.
The USSA?s U.S. Ski Team brand is known worldwide, established as one of the most recognizable brand marks in Olympic sports over the past four decades. The current U.S. Snowboarding brand was established in 2002 while the new U.S. Freeskiing brand was launched this year.
The shop will also feature a variety of ?made to order? products, often keyed to the USSA?s major events or athletic accomplishments.
