AUGUSTA, Ga. ? Dylan Frittelli shot a 67 Saturday and is in third place as the top-ranked Texas golf team shared the lead at the Augusta State Invitational after 36 holes.
The Longhorns have a two-round total of 17-under-par 559 and are tied with two-time defending national champion and host Augusta State.
Texas is seeking its sixth win of the season and second consecutive victory.
Frittelli is two shots behind Julien Brun (65) of TCU and one shot behind Taylor Floyd (67) of Augusta State.
Jordan Spieth of Texas opened the tournament with an even-par 72 and is tied for ninth.
Women's golf team climbs into second
TEMPE, Ariz. ? Freshman Bertine Strauss shot a 2-under-par 69 and the Texas women's golf team surged into a tie for second place at the PING/ASU Invitational on Saturday.
Nicole Vandermade shot a 70 for the Longhorns, who have a 6-over total after entering the day tied for seventh. Texas had the second-best team score of the round.
UCLA leads at 3 under and Texas A&M is tied for second.
Strauss is poised for her best collegiate finish and is tied for fourth place at 1?under 141.
Vandermade (72-70) and junior Haley Stephens (70-72) could also collect top-10 finishes as they enter the final round at even-par 142 and tied for eighth place.
Tiffany Lua (69) of UCLA is the leader at 5 under and Demi Runas (68) of UC Davis is a shot behind.
